Low Boiler Pressure? Here’s How to Top It Up Safely

If your boiler has stopped working and you’ve noticed the pressure gauge is under 1.0 bar, it’s likely due to low pressure — one of the most common boiler issues.
The good news? Repressurising your boiler is often a simple task you can do yourself.
Step-by-Step: How to Top Up Boiler Pressure
-
Locate the Filling Loop
This is usually a silver braided hose with two small valves, found underneath your boiler. -
Open the Valves
Turn both valves slowly. You’ll hear water flowing into the system. -
Watch the Pressure Gauge
Stop when the needle reaches around 1.5 bar. -
Close the Valves
Tighten both valves securely to stop the water.
Important Tip:
Never go above 2.0 bar. If you accidentally overfill the system, or if water starts dripping — stop and call a professional.
